Jason Schwartzman and his amazing Coconut Records

Somehow, even though we love the movies The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore and our all time favorite movie ever, I Heart Huckabees, we had no clue that our favorite Jew boy and weird boy actor, Jason Schwartzman was also an amazing musicians. The dude is ridiculiously talented, just check out his credits on imdb. Now we don;t feel so stupid that when we bumped into him on 8th street outside the Chummus Place that we gave hima handful of Shemspeed swagga, I mean it wasn’t like we were just giving it to some actor, he is a musician! it all makes sense. Perez Hilton hipped Nina to Jason’s video with Chloe Sevigny and from there we found more and more songs. Below you could watch 3 such videos.

What’s the scoop with his project and label? Well, Coconut Records is a Los Angeles, California based indie pop musical solo-project by Jason Schwartzman, which began in 2006. The debut album, Nighttiming, was released on Schwartzman’s Young Baby Records in 2007. The album had musical contributions by members of Incubus, as well as appearances by actresses Zooey Deschanel and Kirsten Dunst. Coconut Records’ sophomore release, Davy, was released in January 2009 and, like Nighttiming, featured musical contributions from Zooey Deschanel.
