Lil’ Wayne & Shemspeed’s Yishai Mizrahi-Varon
March 17, 2011at 4:27 am

You could imagine how stoked we were when we found this interview with Yishai Mizrahi-Varon, the marketing director of Shemspeed.com about him, Weezy, the Roger That Remix feat. Y-Love/Nicki Minaj/Lil Wayne & the GA.

Download Track (here) | Read interview (below):

Interviewer: So, Lil’ Wayne gets out of jail and heads to his home in New Orleans and all of the sudden you have a plane ticket to go to the GA in New Orleans the very same weekend. Could you tell us what is really going on?

Yishai: I hit up Weezy and explained to him I was on my way to New Orleans for the first time and he said he wanted to give me a personal tour of all his favorite spots. He kind of delayed his release to coincide with the GA because as they say, “real recognizes real” and he understands the importance of the GA being held in New Orleans this year. He’s a wonderful guy.

Interviewer: Could you tell us a bit more about your relationship with Weezy? He was in jail and still running the most influential and visible hip hop label in the game right now and you are the director of marketing at Shemspeed and oversee its non-profit side. The two of you both rep labels that the artists drop in every song. We can’t count he amount of times Drake or Nicki Minaj shouts out ‘Young Money” in a song or the amount of times Y-Love or Brody shout out “Shemspeed”.

Yishai: Is there a question?

Interviewer: Oh yes, the question is, how are you and Weezy related even if only spiritually?

Yishai:Well, Weezy and I go way back. There was kind of an application process to be Birdman’s adopted son, I brought the sense of humor, Wayne brought the rapping prowess…Birdman decided to go with Weezy because he thought it’d be a more profitable proposition. We’ve been in touch ever since then, he wanted me in a couple music videos in the past..’Stuntin Like My Daddy’ comes to mind but it hit a little too close to home. Anyways, me and him chat all the time, I keep telling him if he shows me around his city, ‘ll show him mine (Jerusalem)…we’re still in discussions about that.

Interviewer: We are not fans of Holocaust humor (is there such a thing?), but we heard someone say that the GA (the General Assembly) is the largest gathering of Jews since the Holocaust. Is this true?

Yishai:I’m not a “numbers guy”, so I don’t really know, but there will be a ton of Jews from across the world showing their new ideas and ways to help the Jewish Community abroad. It should be a very exciting time, plus it’s in New Orleans so it should be a fun couple days. Can’t wait to see the birthplace of blues!

Interviewer: We heard your favorite artist is Drake. is is safe to assume even though Shemspeed pays your bills, that in your heart of hearts, you really represent Young Money more?

Yishai: To be honest, I think he represents Shemspeed more than I represent Young Money. He talks about being Jewish and Foolish and that’s exactly what Shemspeed is all about…being Jewish and Foolish. Jewish for obvious reasons, because we are all about unity and harmony and we should be a “light unto the nations”, Foolish because we think we can run the music industry by making positive music and making Judiasm relatable through Fashion/Hip-Hop/R&B/Art and all mainstream outlets. We’re creating a movement from the ground up, and I think Drake would see the beauty in that and definitely want to be a part of it. He can represent 2 movements right? Young Money and Shemspeed 4 Life!!

Interviewer: how will you balance your time as a Shemspeeder at the GA in New Orleans and as a fan and fellow label exec with Lil’ Wayne when you are down there?

Yishai: 6:30 Davening
7:00 Breakfast
8-12 GA Activities
12-1 Lunch
1-5 GA Activities
5-5 Kickin it with Weezy
5-6:30 Rest
