Have you heard of Paul McCartney? You probably know him – he was once in a band called the Quarrymen? Yeah, that Paul McCartntney.
We’re out of our minds excited to premiere the ex-Beatle’s new single, “My Valentine.” Somehow it makes us feel like we’re really, really close to the Fab Four right now. Before we hyperventilate, we should say that this track features Eric Clapton on guitar, and that the video finds Academy Award winner and perfect human nominee Natalie Portman lip-synching and signing McCartney’s words in sign language. McCartney produced three versions of the video (one of which also featured Johnny Depp), but for those of us who want to see Mrs. Portman on the solo tip, this one’s your best bet.
SHI 360 is back with another hot track off his “Shalom Haters” album. The Middle East emcee drops “Addiction” April 17th and talks about his addiction to the hip hop game and a passion for its music. Showing how fame can come and go like smoke and mirrors, he raps, “Flashing lights evaporate like cracks in pipes.” Raised in Montreal, Canada, SHI 360 is one of the leading pioneers in Middle East hip hop and has lately emerged as a global voice in the hip hop world after years of paying dues, even overcoming 4 heart surgeries. He raps, “Persevered in this craft of crashing mics, I had to struggle with enormous plights.” Guest emcee Daddy Warbucks brings it back to a main theme of the record, bold social and political messages that spread harmony and peace worldwide, as he rhymes, “Share love for all souls, Muslim, Jewish or Christian. The truth is a drug – we share the addiction.” Accompanied by an honest and candid video, “Addiction” brings a new side of SHI 360 and his “Shalom Haters” album.

Fresh off two live slots at this years Coachella, Miike Snow’s Animals gets the Dillz & Diwon Remix! If you aren’t familiar with Miike Snow or think it’s just one dude then dig this. Miike Snow is a Swedish indie pop band formed in 2007. The band consists of producing team Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg (also known as Bloodshy & Avant) and Andrew Wyatt who is a frequent collaborator with Mark Ronson.
During a time when some Jews refrain from listening to live music – Jewish rap super star, Y-Love and beatbox superstar Yuri Lane (who has over 13 millions hits on youtube) create all their music non-instrumentally. One of the lead singles on the record is “Watch” (The Passover Song), ‘Passover is a time of year where there are a lot of elements to the holiday – the Ten Plagues, the 4 Cups, the 4 Sons, the 4 Questions – I wanted to give these elements a musical voice, using hip-hop. ”Watch” is as much an educational tool about Pesach as it is a hip-hop track.” says Y-Love.
Darshan have dug up some traditional sources and remixed them in a modern retelling of the story found at the end of the Passover Haggadah. Together they create something all together new, and at the same time ancient. Deep and probing rhymes blend with evocative and uplifting melodies in “an uncompromising blend of urban forms and neo-Hasidic spirituality.” – The Forward.

Fresh off his song placement in this years Super Bowl, hustling Jersey bred MC Kosha Dillz is about to bring Passover to thousands of hip hop fans at one of the largest hip hop festivals in North America.
Kosha Dillz sat down with The Algemeiner to discuss how a Passover Seder will be received at this years’ Paid Dues festival.
SoCalled did the SoCalled Seder, which was a hip-hop take on the Passover Seder on CD; it was pretty cool and very Jewish. You are taking it to the next level by bringing the Seder to 20 to 30 thousand hip-hop festival goers with an actual live Seder at Paid Dues. How do you think this will be received? What sort of participation do you expect?
So far its been heavily publicized and we plan to do multiple Seders through out the night. I think the interest and association with me will be natural, plus I’m hoping a few hundred will be able to come by and at least get some food, grape juice, and know that they can still be Jewish at this festival. It serves as a reminder and a safe haven for the people there. Really exciting to me. I get to educate people while keeping the degree of my observance. I also give the opportunities to other Jews who want to make their efforts of observance. Mostly, I put the Jews in a “good light” and make Paid Dues look even more awesome than they already are. It was opened in 1904, with the hope of making it the crowning glory of the New York subway system in elegant architecture and a place for commemorative plaques to honour the work that had resulted in such a successful underground mass transit system. It was to be the original southern terminus of the first ‘Manhattan Main Line’; however the station was closed and boarded up in 1945. The gem of the underground began gathering dust, forgotten by the general public, as passengers were forced off at the Brooklyn Bridge Stop before the train continued on to the terminus to make its turnaround.
