EPRHYME

* please find, topics & videos below

Eprhyme spits rhymes designed to refine the mind of the listener. Kabbalah, psychology, politics, and party rocking are intertwined with elements of jazz, funk, klezmer, and Middle Eastern music to create a powerful and poetic plea for peace, justice, joy, and unity. Over the course of many inspired and productive years, Eprhyme has built a well deserved reputation both as a dynamic performer and an inspiring lyricist. He appears in a wide range of Jewish and secular venues, from New York City's "Downtown Seder" and Hot 97 "Who's Next Live" Showcase to Limmud UK. Eprhyme is both esoteric and accessible enough to captivate and transform an audience from college, club to synagogue. Lyrically, Eprhyme is a well versed tour guide who owes as much to Rebbe Nachman and Robert Anton Wilson as he does to John Coltrane and KRS-ONE.

Extended Bio:

Eden Pearlstein, aka Eprhyme, was born in 1980 and raised in a Reform Jewish household in Phoenix, AZ. After the standard American non-orthodox path of after-school religious studies and summer camps, Eden became a Bar Mitzvah and promptly proceeded to drop out of Jewish life. At that time, Judaism seemed "irrelevant, out of touch and boring". In fact, Judaism seemed to be more about doing things you didnt really want to do, for reasons that you didnt really understand, with people that you didnt really know; rather than a being a vibrant, exciting, creative, communal and conscious way of living, loving and learning. Judaism just seemed like another set of rules and roles that Eden didnt want to follow and didn't fit into. In those years, Eden got into all kinds of things; from drugs and trouble to poetry and music, to yoga, meditation, sufism, psychology and mayan calendrical systems. Eventually, in 2002, Eden found himself on top of a mountain in North Dakota with the Mandan Tribe (A Native American People). During that experience, something happened. As Eden says, "the stone was pushed off the well". And memories and melodies from Eden's Jewish upbringing came flooding back over him. Eden came down from that mountain in North Dakota and immediately threw himself into Jewish Studies and Spirituality in whatever ways he could find. Eden's quest to reconnect with his roots has led him across the denominational spectrum- from far out Shamanic Judaism to the frum world of Flatbush, where Eden currently resides.
