Sabbo is Mad Decent!
Sabbo of Soulico got his second approval stamp from King Decent himself, Diplo. For those of you who don’t know Diplo….He is king for the underground hipster scene from electro to grime, from baile funk to dirty south. He has blended some of the most important club tracks with his signature style of “everything he touches turns gold”. Oh he also made that “Piracy Funds Terrorism” mix that made M.I.A. the biggest Sri Lanken Diva ever to be. Well, Sabbo and the whole Soulico crew are starting to make some noise stateside. In Israel, people in the know, know that they are DOWN, but others still need to get schooled. When I was in Israel 5 yrs ago, I remember stumbling on to them at Cafe Barzilai. I was looking for the best party to DJ and I saw their flier. I called the dude in charge and as I dropped by his house, I heard Holletronix in the background. There was no questions after that. Hollertronix were just starting to make it in NY and I just could not believe he was listening to them then. He told me he loves Diplo and I was like, cool. yea, he is great. I had just got in from NY where Diplo was telling me all about this girl Maya (M.I.A.) that he was starting to work with. I hadn’t heard of her and neither had almost anyone else, but 6 months later she was IT!
