We were all set to check out Jdub’s 5th Anniv and then we saw something we couldn’t believe. It was like a who is who of hipster cool music all at one FREE show in Central Park!!! If you have heard of M.I.A. or Turntablelab or Hollertronix then you have heard of these artists…..Its the Mad Decent/Fools Gold showcase. Entitled “MADFOOLS IN THE PARK” Featuring: Santogold, Diplo, A-Trak (who is Kanye West’s DJ and the Jewish brother of Dave1 from the brilliant group Chromeo) & Kid Cudi with guests, Blaqstarr and Mz Streamz!!! (July 20th, From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM @ Central Park Summer Stage) and we thought the Y-Love, Mosh Ben Ari, Diwon show was hott. The event is titled, “Musical pace-setters weave electro-pop, hip hop, ghettotech, thrash, baile funk, and grime to give a glimpse of where music is heading.” and it is true because Diplo has basically brought into mainstream being the genres, like Bmore and Baile Funk, that were waiting to explode. The bizarre part of the line up is that Diplo and M.I.A. always argue who made whom famous and Santogold cannot deny that her fame is due to M.I.A. most would probably say she is becoming the new M.I.A. and the history there is that if she is the new M.I.A. and Diplo is M.I.A.’s old boyfriend and now he is toruing with Santogold…..ok, ok, I dont even know where I am going with that one, but it is definitely weird. Anyway, this is an event that will change your life. I know when I bought the first Diplodocous 7inch and then the “Never Scared” mega mixtape from Hollertronix my life was changed and when I was walking down 2nd ave and Diplo was telling me about this new girl who goes by M.I.A. that he was working with and that this mixtape (which was called Piracy Funds Terrorisim) was going to be big, I had no idea just how right he was and there is no doubt that it changed his life forever. so, dont sleep and get yourself changed!
