Matisyahu takes on Adam Sandler with new Chanukah song
The Grammy-nominated Orthodox Jewish reggae artist Matisyahu has released a Chanukah song Jewish kids can “be proud of.”
The new tune Miracle is one of the tracks that can be heard on Festival of Light, the musician’s fifth Chanukah compilation.
It has been produced by Kool Kojak, who has worked with stars including Katy Perry and Ke$ha.
The singer said: “There are so many Christmas songs out there. We’ve got Adam Sandler’s song, which is hilarious, but I wanted to try to get across some of the depth and spirituality inherent in the holiday in a fun, celebratory song.
He added: “My boy Kojak was in town so at the last minute we went into the studio in the spirit of miracles and underdogs and this is what we came up with.
“Happy Chanukah.”
